Un choix de deux technologies
|

Fortress Technology offers customers a choice of two control technologies. The Phantom digital model and the Pinpoint analog model were both developed with the "keep it simple" philosophy.

Digital Signal Processing
The Phantom Detector processes signals using a high speed Digital Signal Processor manufactured by Analog Devices. This DSP supplies the Phantom with the highest processing power of any metal detector made today. With over 100 times the power of microprocessors used in competitors' units, the Phantom is able to perform tasks at a much greater rate and provide features that would be impossible with a lesser processor.
Flash Memory Technology
The
Phantom system uses a memory technology known as "Flash"
and requires no battery to retain information. Flash technology
allows the Phantom to store all program and parameter memory in one part and
eliminates concerns about battery failure and replacement.
Display Interface
The
display interface on the Phantom operates as a separate device with its own
processor and communicates with the DSP through an RS 485 connection,
allowing for numerous display options. Local Display: The display is mounted on the dectector front.
Remote Display: The 485 connection allows the display to be mounted up to one mile from the detector. The design is optically coupled and uses differential 485 drivers, making it resistant to electrical interference.
Multi-Unit Display: Because the display contains its' own computer, it can operate and display information for up to 32 discrete detectors and lower equipment installation costs on many applications.
Portable / Removable Display: Since the display unit is portable and operates seperately from the detector, it can be used to make parameter changes on numerous detectors with blank covers.
The Phantom Display Interface offers flexability, security and robust operation.
Integral Power Supply
The
efficient design of the electronics and the power supply in the Phantom
Detector enables both to be packaged in the same enclosure without concerns
of heat damage. This high efficiency means that even with the integral power
supply, the current from the line is less than 200mA and generates virtually
no heat in the single enclosure.
AutoTest
The
largest cost of owning a metal detector is the recurring expense of regular
performance testing. With the trend moving towards more frequent tests, the
cost can skyrocket. To help reduce this cost, increase safety, and improve
protection against detection failure, the Phantom includes an all-electronic
automatic performance test system that outperforms pneumatic systems offered
by competitors.
Reverse detection
The
function of this detection system is to reject packages that do not contain
the prescribed metallized target components.
Communications
Hardware:
The Phantom unit comes with an RS-485 long distance, multi-drop
communication port as a standard feature. This allows up to 32 units to
connect to a computer serial port with cables up to a mile in length without
further hardware.
